Kissable, Unmissable Lips
What is a Lip Lift?
A lip lift enhances lip appearance by creating a more defined, youthful contour.
This surgical technique reshapes the upper lip, providing natural-looking results that complement the overall facial features. Lip lifts have become increasingly more popular among the younger millennial and Gen Z patients, but they can still do wonders for older patients.1 During the procedure, the surgeons strategically lift the upper lip to expose more of the vermilion (pink portion) while minimizing the distance between the upper lip and the nose.
There are several types of lip lifts, each designed to enhance the shape and position of the upper lip. The bullhorn (subnasal) lip lift is the most common, shortening the space between the nose and lip for a fuller look. A central lip lift focuses on raising the Cupid’s bow, while a corner lift turns up the corners of the mouth to reduce a downturned appearance. The gullwing lift defines the upper lip border, the Italian lift subtly elevates the lip with two small incisions at the nostrils, and the V-Y advancement increases lip volume by reshaping tissue from within.
