During your visit, you and Dr. Joshi will discuss your goals, expectations, medical history, concerns about the procedure and recovery, and how the surgery will work in detail. Dr. Josh will also examine your nose and face to see how the surgery can be conducted. Once you are approved for the revision rhinoplasty, Dr. Joshi will set up a personalized treatment plan and provide an estimated quote.

What to Expect on the Day of Revision Rhinoplasty Surgery

On the day of your revision rhinoplasty surgery at Origins Plastic Surgery, Anti-Aging and Wellness in Houston, we will welcome you into our relaxing surgical suite and get you checked in. When you have completed all of the forms, we will take you to the surgery room and answer any final questions before the surgery begins. We will give you general anesthesia so that you will be completely asleep and comfortable. Dr. Joshi will create an incision in the nose, either through the bridge or the nostril, and reshape the soft tissue and bone to meet your unique nasal goals.

The surgery generally takes 2-5 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure. You will wake up groggy from the anesthesia and can take some time to adjust in the recovery room. Someone must pick you up, as it is not safe for you to get home on your own after the procedure.

Revision Rhinoplasty Recovery

Revision rhinoplasty recovery includes some swelling, bruising, and soreness for several weeks, with the most intense discomfort in the first few days to a week. You will be given pain medication to help tolerate the discomfort. You’ll need to wear a bandage and/or a nasal splint for about 2 weeks, until Dr. Joshi says you no longer need them.

We recommend taking plenty of rest, keeping the nasal splint dry, avoiding blowing your nose, wearing glasses, and partaking in strenuous activities. Patients are generally able to return to work after a couple of weeks. Follow all other instructions provided to you by Dr. Joshi.
